Qantas’ efforts to frustrate the bargaining process for the new Enterprise Bargaining Agreement has led to a decision to take industrial action tomorrow (Tuesday, September 20). 

The Union regrets any possible delays to the travelling public.

The Qantas protected action ballot results – over 95% of members from ground handling, catering and fleet presentation voted to take steps to protect and improve their jobs.

The Union threw its support behind a community protest yesterday that asked the Baillieu Government to honour a Labor promise to build freeway ramps to ease truck congestion in the inner West suburbs of Yarraville and Footscray.

 

Wayne Mader, Branch Secretary said, “The ramps would provide truck drivers with better and direct access to the port and surrounding transport depots, easing congestion on local streets.”

 

“The Labor Government allocated the seed funds for this important project and now Mr. Baillieu and his Liberal Government have put the project on hold,” said Mr. Mader.
